- Why should I get a website?
There are three key benefits a small business can gain from having a website.
These benefits are getting new customers, keeping current customers, and
increasing transactions via the internet itself. Many small businesses often
overlook one or two of these potential benefits to their detriment. Even if your
website doesn't bring you thousands of new customers right away it can still be
very useful in your current customer relations.
Regardless of whether the search engines have found your website your current
customers and prospective customers have already found YOU. This doesn't mean
that they are a buyer yet, but YOU can in turn put your new website on all of
your fliers, your storefront, your business cards, in commercials or anything
else that current customers or prospective customers already see. Believe it or
not, a decent website greatly enhances your credibility. With a website you can
now follow your customers home and provide them the opportunity to explore your
goods or services further from the comfort of their bedroom without any
pressure. Not only is the customer more relaxed, but now they are getting
straight to the information they are interested in and you don't have to do a
thing.
From there your customers can find your contact information without having to
go to the phonebook, they can send you their contact information or they could
even order your products online by credit card. This again is all done without
your personal effort. Your transactions can now take place within people's homes
themselves. At the very least you keep your business more present in the minds
of your customers.
Search engine optimization takes time, but after a while of experiencing the
benefits of a website with your local customer base you may eventually gain new
customers from across the country or even half-way around the world!
- Why should I use Promonamics?
The benefits described in the answer to the preceding question often go
unfulfilled for small businesses due to poor quality, inhibitive costs, or the
inability to keep the website updated. Businesses with low quality websites have
a website because they feel they should and yet it may be difficult to navigate,
difficult to read, poorly designed, or lack any noticeable purpose and wouldn't
even be browsed by the business owners themselves if it were any other site but
their own.
Poor quality is often the case because even though the business owner may
feel the internet warrants some attention they do not have the budget to pay for
most professional services which can cost well above $1,000 and typically fall
somewhere between $5,000 - $10,000. Subsequently they resort to building the
website themselves despite not having the time to do so, or they give it to a
relative or friend of theirs who is simply a hobbyist, or they find the cheapest
service they can which often ends up being hobbyists that simply charge money.
And sometimes they may actually pay for a professional service, but what that
professional service has in technical skill they may lack in design skill.
Furthermore the problem with many services is that a disconnect can develop
between the client and the website service such that updating a site is slow and
cumbersome. As a result the information on many small business' websites may be
months or even years old.
Promonamics attempts to solve all of these issues by providing websites that
are clearly organized and designed, that are low cost, and that can be easily
managed by the clients themselves. Our websites can perform a wide range of
automated functions desired in a website, but for very low budget prices. For
our Promonamic custom design package our prices still typically don't even reach
$1,000 and yet the designs we provide have the professional and navigational
ease that will elicit trust from your customers. We build all of our websites
with user friendly content management software that not only allows us to
quickly and easily create your website, but also allows you to easily manage
your website yourself with a simple "point and click" interface. If you need
information to be updated and don't want to wait for someone else to update it
you will have the access and the training to be able to update it yourself.
Amazing things can be and are done using the internet for little or no cost
and it is our goal to provide all of our customers with the tools and
information needed to make full use of their website and take advantage of the
world wide web at a reasonable price.
- How is Promonamics able to provide websites of any value at such relatively low prices?
Our services are only to provide the skills and the time necessary to design
your website. The software we use makes it quick and easy to create and manage
websites, therefore it is not necessary for us to spend much time programming in
html or other programming languages. Pages are easily linked and designs
permeate through to all areas of the website. This is the beauty of what is
known as a content management system. If it is easy to build sites using a
content management system it is even easier for you to maintain them. It isn't
hard to believe that content management systems often cost as much or more than
what many services charge for building a website from scratch, however, we use
what is called open source software.
A phenomena has arisen on the internet called open source. The idea behind it
is that instead of a private team of developers creating software with a
commercial license developers from all over the world can work on software that
is freely distributed and everyone in turn derives mutual benefit. These are
professional developers who in many cases use the open source software itself to
build sites for large businesses and institutions.
Promonamics has scoured the internet for the best solutions we can find and
came across the content management system called Joomla. It seems to have the
largest and most proactive user base, is noted for being very user friendly and
has been implemented on several large institutional sites. Security is a primary
concern of the developers and many security patches and tools are continually
released and easily implemented. To date there have been no serious security
flaws requiring software updates.
We also take the programming solutions developed by these professional
developers and implement them into your website as "add-ons" to perform whatever
function you may desire. There are literally hundreds of these "add-ons" capable
of many tasks.
We charge only for the services we perform, not the content management
system, and we don't charge by the hour, but by the results.
- Who will I be dealing with on my website?
You will work with one of our web design specialists who will work with you
to create a design draft and layout for your website before implementing the
content that you provide. This person will also be training you on how to
operate the content management system.
- How do I get started?
Contact us via our contact form, use the custom quote request form or click
on the "Live Help" button to chat with a representative. We will gladly walk you
through the process of getting your website up and running.
- What will I need to get started?
It is good to have an idea of your website's main purpose and a list of the
primary pages and functions you want within your website. We can work with you
to help generate ideas, however having a good idea to start with will move the
process along more quickly.
- What are the differences between the different website packages?
The key difference is the level of customization of design. The Basic website package implements a very basic design which is based upon
the default template for the content management system. With this design we will
create a custom header to replace the existing header, we can change the size
and color of any text and links, the button colors, and the background colors,
however, the general shape of the site will remain the same as the default and
menu locations (module positions) are not significantly altered.
The Custom Package includes all the same system features, but with full design customization to your specifications.
- What does the custom design entail?
For the custom design of the Custom Website Package we build your
website's design template from the ground up to your specifications. We use
tools such as flash, dreamweaver, photoshop, and frontpage to create everything
from the template to the design and formatting of the text and image content you
provide us with.
- What does search submit entail?
Each website is built to be optimized for search engines as they "crawl" the web looking for content. The search submit service goes a step further by submitting your website to a list of major search engines, directories, social bookmarking sites, and other related web sites that will help get your website "crawled" and also bump up your overall ranking in the search engines.
- What is the content management software used?
We use the award winning open source content management system known as
Joomla. We chose it for its very large and active community of developers, its
ease of use, its implementation on large production websites, its security, and
its plethora of software extensions or "add-ons".
- How do you determine prices?
We charge by the results and not by the hour. Total prices are derived by
taking the base package price and adding on for each page beyond the included 10
pages of a website, the cost of any add-ons, and the cost of any separate
software that is purchased by us.
Additional pages beyond the included 10 cost $25 a piece for each website package. Add-ons typically cost between $25 and $50 and there is a per item
charge usually $1 or $2 for each item that needs to be uploaded or configured
such as media items within a media gallery add-on.
We work our prices out with you before we even begin work on your website.
You will know how much your website is going to cost up front.
